This course is suitable for delegates who have recently attended the ‘Safeguarding Children Complex (Level 4)’ and wish to explore the competencies at Adult Safeguarding compliant with the Health Intercollegiate Document (Level 4) .The course is also a refresher for lead professionals who have already attained Safeguarding Adults (Level 4).

  • Have an advanced knowledge level of the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act and DOLs (LPS) the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and the Serious Crime Act 2015
  • Understand the difference between the Mental Capacity Act and the Mental Health Act
  • Understand the importance of putting the six mandatory principles into practice
  • To understand the investigative process when a safeguarding concern is identified regarding adults at risk
  • Understand the role of the Channel Panel, Marac and Mappa
  • Recognise the value of local and national toolkits
  • Understand the importance of good recording practice when a safeguarding concern is identified
  • To have an understanding of Achieving Best Evidence and communication standards for the purposes of criminal and/or civil court proceeding
  • To have an understanding for Forensic procedures and gathering evidence
  • Be able to undertake safeguarding risk assessments to ensure your organisation has the ability to safeguard adults at risk of harm
  • Understand local Thresholds charts for Children and Adults at Risk
  • Have a good understanding of sharing information regarding Adults at Risk of Harm
