Course Description
‘Sextortion’ is a concise name for ‘financially motivated sexual extortion’.
It is a type of online blackmail which often uses social media’s messaging services (for example, those found on Snapchat or Instagram) or dating apps (for example, Tinder, Bumble, Grindr)
During this crime, criminals persuade victims to send them explicit information, then threaten to share sexual pictures, videos, or sexually-related information about victims.
It is a form of exploitation. They may be trying to take money from victims or forcing them to do something sexual that they don’t want to.
