With the annual Safer Internet Day due to take place on Tuesday 9th February 2021, it seems a great opportunity to raise awareness and initiate important conversations concerning Online Safeguarding Challenges.

SAFE will be embarking on a week’s long event from the 8th February – 12th February 2021 with Associate Trainer, Alan Earl, to discuss the current issues and concerns surrounding Online Safeguarding.

Throughout the week, Alan will be discussing various topics whereby allocating each day of the week to a specific challenge or theme. Keep an eye out on SAFE’s social media pages and blogposts to follow along.

What's on the line up?

MONDAY 8TH FEBRUARY – ‘GAMING’

On Monday, we will be discussing the immanent ‘Gaming‘ industry and the challenges faced by teachers, parents and carers to keep children safe from the dangers young persons can encounter.

TUESDAY 9TH FEBRUARY – ‘SAFER INTERNET DAY’

Tuesday officially marks ‘SAFER INTERNET DAY‘ 

Alan will be discussing the importance of children recognising fact from fiction on the internet.

WEDNESDAY 10TH FEBRUARY – ‘CYBERBULLYING’

On Wednesday, we will be discussing ‘Cyberbullying‘ and the coping mechanisms for adults & young people.

THURSDAY 11TH FEBRUARY – ‘SEXTING’

On Thursday, we will be discussing ‘Sexting’ and the effect Covid-19 & consequent lockdown(s) have had on this online phenomena. 

FRIDAY 12TH FEBRUARY – ‘LIVE STREAMING’

On Friday, we will be discussing Live Streaming’.

Online Safeguarding Course -

Throughout February, Alan is also offering a bespoke ‘Online Safeguarding’ course in which aims to equip DSL’s & Teachers with an understanding of the current issues, laws & strategies around technologies and online safeguarding.
