SAFE Associate – Caroline Jones

Caroline is Registered Mental Health Nurse with a career spanning over 30 years working with Children and Adults, Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism. She has held a number of Local, Regional and National roles including Clinical practice, as a Director, Trustee, Independent Chair, safeguarding Consultant and trainer, compliance and regulation specialist and Senior operational management.

Caroline has experience of working across provider and commissioning systems, NHS, Local Authority, Education, Independent sector, charities and large corporate organisations. Caroline is a highly experienced, skilled and dynamic safeguarding leader with exceptional investigative and communication skills, service improvement, project management, policy review and development, service reviews, development and delivery of high quality and bespoke training.

Between 2009 and 2013 Caroline had been a Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children, Children Looked After and Vulnerable Adults across a number of large teaching hospitals in London and Designated Nurse for Children and Adults across a number of London CCG’s. Caroline spent a period of time as a member of the NHSE National Safeguarding Board representing CCG’s.

In 2013 Caroline took on a role as Designated Nurse, with responsibility for the governance, assurance and quality of safeguarding provision across a number of CCG’s including working with and providing safeguarding supervision for GP’s, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary care and independent providers.

Caroline has undertaken a number of IMR’s, Health Overview Investigations and produced reports for Serious Case Reviews, Vulnerable Adult reviews and Homicide reviews. Caroline has completed a number of safeguarding investigations as an independent safeguarding consultant and is in trained in Root Cause Analysis and PSIRF (Patient Safety Incident response Framework) methodology and a NHS trained safety leader.

Caroline has experience of implementing safeguarding excellence for organisations within a regulatory and compliance framework with CQC, CIW, CIS and Ofsted. She has worked closely with the CQC as a Specialist advisor for CAMHS and Safeguarding and supported NHSE to undertake a service wide safeguarding review for the London Ambulance Service.

Caroline is highly skilled at supporting services and providing training to address gaps in knowledge around safeguarding Children and Adults, PREVENT, MCA, DoLS and LPS, CSE, County Lines, Domestic abuse, safeguarding and vulnerabilities of children and adults with mental health, learning disability and Autism and safeguarding with forensic risks.

Caroline is a very committed and experienced safeguarding professional who is motivated to supporting services and organisations by providing training, policy work or consultation to help improve safeguarding processes and practice.
