SAFE Associate – Dave Hunt

Dave has a long and extensive experience working within Child Protection and Safeguarding, both within policing and for a Safeguarding Children Partnership.

During his service within the police, he was instrumental in the project to form the first Joint Investigation Team in Sussex, and police project lead in the creation of the first Sexual Assault Referral Centre.

Dave was part of the Investigative Training Team for the force, specialising in Child Protection, Achieving Best Evidence and Sexual Offences Training.

As a result of his expertise, he was also asked to write and deliver training to Sexual Offence Liaison Officers for the British Transport Police.

On return to front line investigations, Dave was involved in the formation of the MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) in Brighton and Hove. He remained the permanent Police presence within the MASH until his retirement from the police in 2015.

Dave then took on the role of Training Manager for the Brighton and Hove Safeguarding Children Partnership, where he wrote training and delivered to multi-agency staff.

Dave was nominated as a Child Protection Trainer of the Year and was also awarded an NSPCC award for his work around recognition and reduction of Neglect.
