Liz Plastow

Liz has had extensive experience in the National Health Service and Education having worked at a national level both for the Nursing and Midwifery Council and secondment into the Chief Nursing Officers Team (England).

Liz began her career in residential social work, before training as a mental health nurse (specialising in child and adolescent mental health), general nurse and health visitor. She is a Registered Nurse Tutor and worked as Principal Lecturer for the University of Plymouth and developed programmes for Exeter University Post Graduate Medical School in both Malaysia and Hong Kong.

For many years Liz worked as an independent consultant in public health nursing, providing expert input to the Obesity, CAMHS and Infant Mortality National Support Teams and has undertaken numerous Local Government Safeguarding Peer Reviews for adult, and children safeguarding and Looked After Children. Liz is passionate about safeguarding and supporting health practitioners in Practice.

She has held a number of safeguarding posts as Designated Nurse in the States of Jersey and the Designated Lead Nurse for Safeguarding for Bath and NE Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group. She is currently Head of Safeguarding for Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group.

She is on the Editorial Board for the Journal of School Nursing, has undertaken research in primary care and has a number of peer reviewed papers published
