SAFE Associate – Samantha (Sam) Haspell
Sam spent over 31 years in policing, specialising in safeguarding and investigations. Sam was an accredited child Abuse and Adult Abuse investigator. She undertook various roles relating to safeguarding from managing the public protection policy and compliance team to being the strategic force lead for Domestic Abuse, Rape, Stalking and Central safeguarding (partnership work and MASH). Sam represented her force on the local Children and Adult safeguarding boards as well as chairing the County wide Domestic Abuse Tactical Group.
Sam was senior investigating officer for a number of complex child abuse investigations and was the force lead for Child death. Sam sat as a panel member on several Domestic Homicide Reviews, Safeguarding Adult reviews, and Child Safeguarding practice reviews.
Since leaving policing, Sam has qualified as a coach as well as taking up a new role as the Chief Executive of a Domestic Abuse Charity. Sam is also a trustee for a local charity and a local school.
Sam remains passionate about safeguarding and is committed to supporting individuals with their learning and working with organisations to improve outcomes for vulnerable adults and young people through consultancy, reviews and policy writing.
