What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding is the policies and practices that establishments follow to keep children and adults safe and promote their well-being. This can cover things such as recruitment of staff, recognising the signs of abuse, and ensuring that all staff are aware of legislation and safe practices. All organisations that work with or have contact with children and adults at risk must demonstrate compliance with this responsibility. There are various levels of responsibility, and therefore various levels of Safeguarding Training.

Child protection is what is in place to protect children who have already experienced harm, abuse, neglect, sexual exploitation, or have otherwise been harmed.
Safeguarding is to prevent harm; child protection is how we respond to harm.
