Course Description
This Safeguarding course equips healthcare, managers and safeguarding leads with the knowledge and capabilities required under the Intercollegiate Documents for Safeguarding Children (RCN, 2025) and Adult Safeguarding (RCN, 2024). The programme strengthens advanced safeguarding literacy across child and adult practice, enabling participants to lead, supervise, quality-assure and coordinate safeguarding in a range of health settings, including digital and remote models of care.
Learners examine the legal, ethical and professional responsibilities of senior safeguarding roles, developing skills in decision-making, professional curiosity, trauma-informed practice, digital safeguarding, multi-agency working and system-wide leadership. Through legislation, national learning, applied case scenarios and reflective activities, the course builds both strategic and operational safeguarding competence.
On completion, participants will be able to recognise and respond to complex safeguarding concerns; manage organisational safeguarding duties; and promote a culture of safe, high-quality, person-centred care for children, young people and adults at risk.
